Today in my English class I learned some useful phrasal verbs and expressions. Here I share their meanings and some examples of how to use them.




Come up with 

e.g. He's trying to come up with a new design for the company logo. 


Treat yourself to 

e.g. Why not treat yourself to a nice glass of wine this evening? 


Charge for 

e.g. The plumber charges $60 an hour for their work. 


Depend on 

e.g. The small business depends on local customers to survive.


Make the most of 

e.g. We are only in Paris for one day, let's make the most of it. 


Take advantage of 

e.g. We should take advantage of the sunny weather and have a picnic. 


Have an effect on 

e.g. A ggod night's sleep has a positive effect on your day. 


Suggest a price for 

e.g. I'll suggest a price for the repairs, but the mechanic has the final say. 


Rely on 

e.g. I'm relying on you to keep this secret.

 

Pay a fair price for 

e.g. I don't mind paying more for organic food, as long as I'm paying a fair price for quality. 


Play an important role in 

e.g. Technology plays an important role in our daily lives. 


Invest in

 e.g. We need to invest more time in educating our children.
